What's going on in Oceanside, California?
Sure Oceanside is known for its perfect climate and ideal surfing, but if you'll be staying in our beach town for a bit you'll also want to check out what's going on around town. Whether you make it here in the balmy middle of July or the just as balmy middle of February we always have something going on, from national surfing championships off the Oceanside Pier to multicultural events celebrating the diversity of our fair city, to walks, runs, and swims benefitting local and regional charities. ----------------------------------------------------- OFest Sizzling Summer Beach Break and Freedom Days ParadeDate: July 3-4
Details: Oceanside's premiere summer celebration, O'Fest and the Freedom Days Parade is several different parties all rolled into one to celebrate the most patriotic day of the year. Starting a day or two before July 4th, O'Fest is kicked off with a local carnival featuring a ferris wheel, merry go round and other rides as well as traditional carnie games. On the 4th a parade featuring floats, marching bands, and community groups proudly marches down Coast Highway with a patriotic theme. Meanwhile vendors set up along Pier View Way selling everything from Philly Cheesesteak to ocean themed art and the Oceanside Amphitheatre plays host to a variety of musical and performance artists who entertain with the rolling ocean as the backdrop. Finally at 9:00 the climax of the day as the much anticipated fireworks show brightens the night and reflects off the waters of the Pacific Ocean. ----------------------------------------------------- Antiques on Mission

Details: Some people like old stuff - if you're one of those people you definitely don't want to miss this gathering of antiquers from far and near buying and selling on Mission Ave. This annual event features genuine antiques, collectible, handmade arts and crafts, and fine art. Details: Arts, Crafts, and Food vendor booths with special entertainment programs and participatory events: including live entertainment, a children's area, military and civilian displays, hail and sail, canoe and sailboat races and a car show. ----------------------------------------------------- Dia De Los Muertos
Date: Late October
Details: The traditional Mexican 'Day of the Dead', Dia de los Muertos is a street festival (Mission Ave.) celebrating the lives of deceased loved ones with ofrendas/altars built in the streets. Event has educational programs, food, music, and shopping. The event features children's hands on craft area and traditional dance performances. ----------------------------------------------------- ANNUAL OCEANSIDE LONGBOARD SURFING CLUB CONTEST & BEACH FESTIVAL
Date: Mid August
Details: This event is an annual surf club competition with up to 18 different clubs participating. This competition will also have a pro noseriding event and food & vendor booths. Sponsored by the Oceanside Longboard Surfing Club. About the Author
